About TLMII

Brief History of TLMII

The Lady Mediatrix Institute, Inc., formerly known as Lady Mediatrix College, was founded on July 5, 1949, by a group of laymen moved by a vision and a sense of mission. Among its founders were Atty. Isidro Rodriguez, Mr. Francisco Malabanan Sr., Mr. Dominador Lirio, Mr. Pastor Dalmacion, and Mrs. Clarita de Leon. Later, the ownership of the school was passed on to Rev. Msgr. Crispino Racelis, the parish priest, who also served as the first Director of the School.

Initially, the institution offered Liberal Arts and Secretarial Science. However, the college operated only for one year. In the following school year, 1950–1951, a permit was obtained to operate complete Elementary and High School levels. It was then that the school came to be known as Lady Mediatrix Institute.

In 1951, Rev. Msgr. Crispino Racelis invited the Augustinian Recollect Sisters to become part of the school staff. Responding to this invitation, Very Rev. Mother Ma. Carmen Alba, the Superior General at that time, sent Sr. Imelda Lachica, A.R., as the local superior, together with two other sisters who formed the first Augustinian Recollect community in the school. Later, Sr. Angustias Librea, A.R., succeeded Sr. Imelda Lachica, A.R.

In 1953, the administration of the school became a work of shared stewardship between the Parish and the Augustinian Recollect Sisters. The Sisters assumed active responsibility for the financial administration and management of the school, while the portion of land beside the parish church used by the school remained under the ownership of the Diocese. Through this arrangement, the Parish and the Sisters worked together in sustaining the mission of Catholic education. Over the years, the Augustinian Recollect Sisters continued to nurture the growth of the institution, and the improvements made in the school facilities became part of their continuing contribution to its development.

In 2013, the school was transferred to Masin Norte to provide a wider and more conducive space for its learners, personnel, and the growing school community. The new site is situated on land owned by the Congregation of the Augustinian Recollect Sisters. This transfer marked another significant milestone in the history of The Lady Mediatrix Institute, Inc., as it opened greater opportunities for growth, expansion, and service.

Through the years, TLMII has remained faithful to its mission of providing quality Catholic education to the wider community. Responding to the signs of the times, the institution continues to commit itself to ongoing study, renewal, and development. It seeks to meet the demands of 21st-century education while remaining rooted in its Augustinian Recollect identity and values.

Guided by its history and mission, The Lady Mediatrix Institute, Inc. continues to move forward in the work of quality assurance, academic excellence, and holistic formation. It remains committed to forming every Augustinian Recollect learner to be strong in faith and fulfilled in life.
